true things

there are true things inside of me that I have been afraid to see – I believe; help my unbelief.  — JJ Heller

So the song lyric may not be exactly appropriate.  But I liked it.  It’s also one of the five songs I can play on the guitar.

Annie tagged me to share 7 {true} things about me that you might not know.  So here goes!

{one} Despite the fact that I am a singer and a dancer, I have a terrible sense of timing.  It’s both frustrating and amusing.  But that means Katie and I a good pair; we rehearsed the dance we’re doing for Christmas Eve, and I helped her with some of the steps and she yelled at me about the timing.

{two} I actually really like these memes.  And I may have even filled out some on facebook for the fun of filling them out….just never posted them.  Mostly because it seems kind of strange to be posting those on facebook, and just assuming that people want to read random things about you.  Also because the facebook versions are pointless and pretty personal – and I’d much rather people find out these things about me by being friends and talking to me.  (You just can’t know everything about me by stalking.  Sorry.)  But I find them fun, though this is probably my first in a year or two.

{three} I’m a little bit of a breadaholic.

{four} I love pictures: looking at them, posing for them, scrapbooking them.  But I still don’t really care about taking them.  I wish I did, though!

{five} I’m usually reading at least three or four books at once.  I just get so excited about all the delightful ones waiting for me that I can’t wait.  Patience has never been one of my strong points.  (Do you think anyone is born with that particular virtue?)

{six}  When I was little, my hair used to exactly match Felicity’s (from American Girl).  It’s darkened a bit, sadly, but still has a general apricot-and-auburn tint.  I still call myself a redhead, just because.

{seven} Andy Crouch likes to remind us that 10,000 hours will make us an expert in anything.  That’s 1 hour a day, 6 days a week, for about thirty years, if I remember.  It’s definitely do-able, and I know we’re all experts (or near-experts) in something – even if that’s just facebook.  (gulp).  The sad part?  With that math, you can only be really, really, really good at one thing.  But I have so many passions.  Dance.  Music.  Writing.  Acting.  Reading.  The Bible (well, I wish that a more enthusiastic and devoted passion).  How can I ever pick just one?

Maybe I don’t need to be an expert in anything.

And in lieu of the fact that I’m going to be totally lame and not, in fact, tag anyone else (except Ellie and Joanna, because I think you girls might find it fun), here’s an eighth:

{eight} my drawing ability has officially stopped at the level of a five-year-old.  I’m pretty sure my little sister can draw better than I can.  Oh well – I never claimed to be an artist with pictures!

And if any of you, my dear readers, find this little meme fun – consider yourself tagged!  And do let me know so I can pop over and read yours.

Entry filed under: random nonsense.

I love pictures, too! We were out shopping, and mom was trying to talk me out of buying yet another picture frame, lol.

My drawing hasn’t gotten past that either. For my cousin’s Christmas gift, I drew her a picture (long story) and it literally looked like it was drawn by a 4 year old. (It was supposed to, but considering I didn’t try too hard, it’s a little sad… haha)
