grace upon grace

Why is it that the little things can sometimes undo me so much?  In a month (or 10 years…) maybe I’ll look back and laugh at the things that worried me.

That’s usually how it works.

But for now, I want to take a cue from so many of my wise friends and choose to focus my heart on the little graces and blessings that are showered on my life.

So here are some moments from my week that make me smile:

– Megan and I saw the theatre school’s production of Peter Pan.  It was charming and magical, and now I want to fly.

– Friday night Kelly’s older sister visited us, and we took her out to dinner, and went to a cute little restaurant and felt awfully sophisticated.  Even if we did spend the time waiting for our food taking pictures of ourselves.

– Saturday morning, I went shopping for Operation Christmas Child with three other friends.  It’s a project through Samaritan’s Purse, where you fill up a shoebox with little things (toys, school supplies, personal hygene, etc) and it gets sent overseas to impoverished places.  It’s often the first gift a child has ever receieved.  Katie and I used to send a shoebox every year with our grandmother when we were little, but haven’t done it in the last eight or so years since she passed away.  But I’ve been longing to do it again, and it holds so many special memories, so I’ve just been thrilled to be able to help coordinate this effort through the Navigators.  Plus, I’m kind of proud of it because I’m not much of a planner/organized person, and it’s forced me to try to plan and think things through and coordinate them.

– I went swing dancing Saturday night.  I love dancing.  I love swing dancing.  It was so much fun, and brought back many glorious memories of fellow AP US History students traveling the country to come to the end-of-the-year party, and Andrew and I teaching swing dancing.  (AKA, Andrew knew what he was doing, and I had no idea, but that didn’t really matter because he made my feet go where they needed to.  It was fantastic).

– Finding Christmas twinkle lights up downtown, doing my little squeaking-and-bouncing dance, and getting strange looks from Peter, who reminded me that it’s not Thanksgiving yet.  (So what?)

– the funny moments that occur when you realize that your roommate knows you better than you do.

– finally getting my first real scene (and final project) in acting class on Thursday, and liking it!

– counting down until next week, when I finally get to see Ellie and Jessina and have marvelous adventures again.

– friends who text me “just because”

– plans to watch It’s a Wonderful Life on the bus ride home.  I’ve only seen it once, but I loved it, and yes, it made me cry.  Dear library, please get it in before Thursday.

grace upon grace,

megan
