the post i shouldn’t be writing

because it is 12:15 in the morning, I still have some tidbits of work to do, and I really need my sleep.

But the lack of posts on this blog has been bothering me.  Has it been bothering you?  I love blogging, and it annoys me how sometimes I can have weeks of inspiration and good ideas and fairly regular posts – and then I go a month without being able to write anything.  Sigh.

I know you love posts where I write about not being able to write.

Anyway.  I went home last weekend, which was lovely.  Shopping, swimming, and sleeping made my weekend.  Especially the sleeping bit, I think.  Have you ever seen the facebook bumper sticker, “Welcome to College!  Pick only two: grades, social life, sleep.”  I’m realizing that that is, unfortunately, incredibly true.  And it will probably be true for the rest of my life…but I’m not going to go there.  Regardless, the sleep always gets sacrificed, sometimes to my parents’ chagrin.  (I think they mind me being sick more than I do!  But maybe that’s as it should be).

It’s been interesting jumping back into college as a sophomore: feeling your way back into friendships, being surprised with new ones, and starting all over again with the ones that slipped backwards over the summer.  But it’s so nice to already know where I fit in (for the most part) and have great friendships to come back to.  And I’ve been looking forward to so many things, like the Navs Fall Retreat, where it was good last year but will be ever so much more fun this year now that I actually know lots of people!!

In terms of clubs, I’m still in the Navigators, and I’m considering joining the ballet club again.  If I join, I’ll just take classes – I don’t have the time to perform again.  But I did just join the Public Relations Student Society of America, which I’m actually excited about it.  I heard about it last year, but thought it was one of those clubs that everyone joined because they “ought” to, because it would “look good on a resume”.  Well, I’ll do things because they look good on resumes, too – but I have a precious bit of free time, and I sure want to spend it doing something I want to, not something I do just because it “looks good”!  So I shelved the PRSSA away in that “when I need to” mental drawer – maybe I’d join it junior year or senior year or something.  Well, I joined this year because I actually found out that it’s fun.  (Surprise!)  They have speakers from the PR field come and talk to us.  They host workshops, to help us learn things like Photoshop and InDesign and all sorts of other programs that it will be supremely helpful to know.  And, you know, we get on the national listserve.  Not that that’s helpful for finding jobs or internships or anything!

And now, I am going to end this stream of consciousness post in favor of a more coherent one later this week.  (So check back!)  But before I go,  I want to point you to a fun site/webzine/blog: (in)courage.  It’s a beautiful community of women – real, genuine women that share their hearts, their faith, and their struggles with each other.  Jump in.

Haha, I hadn’t seen that bumper sticker 🙂

So happy you enjoyed your weekend at home, and I can’t wait to hear how your semester is going as you push through (without enough sleep?) haha

    Love you!
