the X is my saving grace

Jessina and I are teaching dance to little ones at a fine arts camp this week.

It is fun.  And exhausting.

And the x is my saving grace.  We make Xs on the floor with blue tape, and the kiddos have to sit (or stand) on them for various activities.  But most importantly, when the kiddos start getting a bit too bouncy – as small boys and girls are apt to do – we can yell, “Okay, everyone back on your X!” and thus buy ourselves about two seconds of calm.

But small children are so precious and cute and outgoing.

In other news, the Celtic Woman concert was absolutely beautiful.  That’s all.  I don’t think I’ve ever been to a concert (I know, I’m talking from a great deal of experience here) where the focus was on pure beauty.  Granted, that simply doesn’t work well with most music groups, and for them the focus being on the guitarists’ cool gymnastics is equally fitting.  But everything was focused on beauty, and it was so refreshing.  (I love that God made our souls to love and appreciate and be refreshed by beauty!)  The girls were lovely, the dresses were gorgeous, and the voices were beyond amazing.  Oh, and the night was spectacular.  It was in an outdoor theatre, and it could have been miserable, since for the past several weeks the weather has just been hot, hotter, and even hotter.  But it cooled a bit over the weekend, and Saturday was perfect weather with a gentle breeze.  Heavenly.

And I discovered that I can play my favorite song from the concert on the guitar!  It’s called Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears – about Ellis Island – and I love it.  Needless to say, I’m learning it right now.

And that’s all!  Two and a half weeks until I’m back on campus – I don’t think I can quite believe it yet!

grace & peace,
