ten degrees happier

I’m a pretty determined little girl.

My dad just got a text that read, “Dear Daddy: this summer, I want to learn how to throw a football.”

Apparently, that’s just been added to my “list of things I’m absolutely going to learn” – along with ice skating and guitar and who knows what else that I’ve already forgotten about.  (whoops!)

This week has been so utterly gorgeous that we’ve been outside every chance we have.  My creative writing class moved outside, halfway across campus, to the duck pond.  We’re awesome.  I’ve had multiple picnics, too, and today a bunch of my friends and I were waiting for people and decided to toss a football back and forth on the lawn.  Hence the new resolution.

I’m pretty good at throwing a ball that fits in my hands.  But I’ve learned that a football is quite unwieldy.  So of course I was simply awful, but at least I did try.  And at least, when a ball comes flying at me, I try to catch it and don’t scream and duck.  That should count for something.

And I feel I should warn anyone who happens to glimpse my campus: the lawns are officially beaches.  Girls stretched out on towels are absolutely everywhere, and there is a lot of frisbee playing/catch that is going on.  But it’s so fun to see everyone excited.  We’re all ten degrees happier.
