flowers in her hair

We’re supposed to get slammed with some more snow tomorrow and Friday.  And it snowed on Monday.  Apparently, the weather doesn’t realize that it’s supposed to warm up.

And yes, at this point I am completely ready for spring.  But even if the weather doesn’t cooperate, I’m trying to welcome it as much as I can.  Right now, for instance, I’m wearing my new samon-colored cartigan, a turquoise shirt, and yellow beads.  Very colorful indeed.  I can’t wait until it’s warm enough to wear dresses!

Anyway, one of my very favorite fashion trends has been the flowers-in-hair bit.  Headbands, barrettes, ponytails – they all have flowers on them.  And I love it.  I love flowers, I love pretty things, and I love how girlish it makes me feel.  So I’ve been taking advantage of this trend to find all the accessories I can.

Over Christmas break, I found several cute new headbands.  It was a little bit of a challenge, because I’m both small and picky about prices, so I’d try on the cheap forever21 headbands and my friend would kindly inform me that the flower looked like the size of a dinner plate on my head.  In other words, simply ridiculous.  But I eventually found some flowers at Target and LOFT, and my new favorite accessory was picked up from H&M over a Valentine’s Day shopping trip.  Hair clips.  I do wish I could post pictures, but my camera died, and of course H&M doesn’t believe in online shopping or anything.  But these are cute little white plastic flowers with a pinkish center, they go with everything, and better yet, they’re only $3!

So, despite the swirling snow, these are some spring things that are making me very happy.  And here is a picture of my favorite dress, which I bought at the end of last summer (I’d spent the entire summer admiring it, and when it was on final sale at a ridiculous price, finally bought it!) from LOFT:

I love being a girl!

Although the slight downside might be my behavior with creepy crawlies.  In the middle of writing this girly post, my roommate and I both screamed at the top of our lungs.  Some giant, creepy bug was speeding across our floor.  Kelly jumped on her bed and screamed, and since the task was obviously delegated to me, I grabbed a shoe to try to kill it.  Then we lost it.  Then it skittered out again, and we screamed some more.  And I finally killed it.  This, I have decided, is the one downside to not living on a co-ed hall.  But it’s okay; we seem to have figured out new delegations for our roommate relationship.  I take care of creepy bugs.  She is on mouse patrol.  (Once in the fall we thought we had a mouse in our room.  Thankfully, we didn’t, but I jumped on my bed and reminded her that she was the vet, she knew how to deal with animals, she should take care of it.  I think she was equally creeped out, but there was no way I was dealing with that).

On a happier subject, tonight I’m going on a Megan date!  Two of my friends and I are going to go see Sunday in the Park with George, which I am very excited about, and go to Panera for dinner first, since it’s right next to the theatre and a fun deviation from dining hall food.  And, we’re all named Megan.  Isn’t that fun?

It’s always warm enough to wear dresses. I wear them frequently.

As for the creepy crawlies, dearly, you simply must get used to them. And kill them without screaming. Won’t you try it once and see how effective it is (besides, your roomie, being the vet major, should be the one who is definitely not scared of bugs…after all, who knows when a flea or some such creature will show up on a dog she’s treating). Believe me, I kill bugs all the time (and a snake, too) without screaming and it’s simply marvelous. Try it; you might like it.

Here’s to creepy bugs and mice!
