Of vacations, research, and not posting

Well.  That posting-more-often thing didn’t happen, now did it?  But the lofty goal has not died; we’ll see if I can put it into practice this week.

And if I don’t…well…it would make a good New Year’s Resolution, don’t you think?

Anyway, I am back at school, back in my Narnia  (I consider it Narnia because it’s so completely different from home, I’m on my own, and I feel like time should stop back home while I’m gone).  Most people are glad to be back; some people are downright excited.  Me?  Well, being done now for Christmas break would be lovely.  Not that I really mind being back; I miss home, but I’ve settled back into my school life pretty well.  I told my mother that I didn’t mind being in either world; it was the messy packing/leaving/transitions that I hate.  Ah well!  Such is life.

Thanksgiving break was lovely, though it seems so strange for Thanksgiving to be past already.  But I did get to visit my beloved dance class, and go shopping on Black Friday and do all manner of fun things with my friends.  Oh, yes, and I got sick, which was not particularly fun but it did give me some down time to do a lot of reading.  I am now almost done A Chance to Die, and very inspired as always!  There will probably be more Elisabeth Elliot-related posts soon.  (The downside I also lost my voice, so if I talk too much I sound hoarse and I can’t sing at all.  This is punishment indeed).

So I am back, seeing friendly faces at the dining hall, learning a dance from The Nutcracker in my last ballet class of the semester, and feverishly working on two major group presentations due this week.  Did you know that research on groupthink displayed in juries is rather slim?  But I found a promising article, so things are looking up.

And Roomie and I spent about an hour when we got back decorating our dorm room for Christmas.  She had garlands, I had twinkle lights; we both had random decorations that we set all around the room.  It now looks quite festive!  After I tacked an entire sheet of window clings to our walls, I asked her if it would be overkill to put another (different) set on our windows.  “I think…you should do it,” she announced.  I knew I picked the right roommate!

I’ve had lots of things swirling around in my head lately, so you can expect some more philosophical/theological posts soon.  But for now, I thought I would send a little note to the world to let you know of some of the happy things in my life.

tidings of comfort & joy,

Megan
