I’ve been home since Friday, for Labor Day weekend.  And oh my, it has been wonderful.

Strange, in a sense, because I feel like I’m living two different lives and apart of two different worlds – and I’m not quite sure where I fit in yet.  It almost feels like college should be Narnia, and that since it is so completely different it should also have the time difference – no time should pass here at home while I’m gone.  But it doesn’t quite work that way, I’m discovering.

Regardless, it has been great being home.  There were some fun things on campus this weekend that I was sad I missed, but I think this little break to get recharged has been entirely worth it.  College is fun, and there are lots of amazing people there, but since I’ve only been there three weeks I don’t have a place of my own yet.  I’m working on finding friends, finding my groups and circles and connecting with those who share the same interests.  So it has been wonderful to stop working and just be, to be surrounded again by the people who know me the best and love me the most.  And seeing my family and my friends has strengthened me to go back.  This makes it sound super dramatic and like I’m going to battle  – which is not true, I do like college! – but I think it helps me as I float around and feel slightly transplanted and try to foster all kinds of new friendships to know that there are people who are surrounding me with love and support, praying for me and cheering me on.  And just knowing that I have that kind of net underneath me is a wonderful feeling.

And so tomorrow I must try to defy physical laws by squeezing backpacks and bags onto my bus seat so I don’t have to check them; I barely made it on the way here and now I have an extra bag.  This will be exciting.  I also have to study psychology, write a proposal for my first paper, and check my email twenty times an hour to see if the ballet company has posted the results of my placement yet.

And such is life.  But cheers for four-day weekends 🙂

I didn’t know you were auditioning for a ballet company! Which one? And I’m so glad you got to have your batteries recharged this weekend.
