Sweet Summer

I’m not sure how the summer is sailing by so quickly.  But it has been lovely.

I’m afraid this blog is feeling quite neglected, and I’ll confess that the one thing that keeps me posting is I keep getting info on how to set up a blog at my college – and then I feel guilty about the three blogs I have and don’t really post on.  (Yes, that’s right.  Three.)

The past few days have been rather uneventful; today my small sister and I played in the pool.  She discovered that her swimsuit with the built-in inner tube allowed her to float, all by herself, and I spent a good hour chasing her and making silly faces and listening to those baby giggles that just seem to explode – the kind you wish you could catch in a little butterfly net and save forever.

In other important news, I have been spending all summer trying to find the perfect duvet cover for college.  Finding something that’s fun and spunky and classy and not too wild and doesn’t look like an 8-year-old has been rather challenging.  Oh, and did I mention it can’t be too expensive?  I’ve practically memorized PB Teen’s website by now, because hands-down they have some of the cutest things.  But then the one I wanted was sold out, others had too much white to be practical for college and were a good $60 more than I wanted to spend, et cetera.

I found this classy one from Nautica:

Beautiful, but maybe a little too much white for college, you know?  And that cute little pillow is ridiculously expensive, and Katie keeps telling me I would have no use for it anyway.  And maybe I wanted something a little brighter for college….

So yesterday, after exausting all the Marshall’s, TJ Maxx’s, Bed Bath & Beyonds, and Targets I could think of, I finally found this cute one at LL Bean, and I think it might be a winner:

I think it’s a pretty good blend of bright and fun but classy, too!  We’ll see if I find anything I like better at the PB Teen outlet (okay, the tiny corner of Pottery Barn Kids outlet), if I ever get there – but for now this is certainly my favorite.

I really can’t believe it’s August already.  I’m not sure how I feel about my first adventure into the college world – excited, I think; nervous, definitely.  My classes are exciting, albeit a little intimidating; but it’s just a whole new world awaiting.  Minus the magic carpet ride!

More posts coming soon, along with new book reviews!
